our repair process
getting started
Every tyre sent to GTV is inspected internally and externally by one of our experienced repair technicians. Referencing Australian Standard AS 4457.2-2008, our technicians determine if the tyre is suitable for repair
Using a variety of industry specific tooling, our technicians must skive the existing damage and buff the surface to the required texture
preparation
Rubber Fill
We only use Australian manufactured repair rubber of the highest quality. Every piece of block rubber is stitched in by hand to ensure correct adhesion and eliminate air ingress
If a tyre has a cut through penetration (leaking), it needs a reinforcing patch. We source our patch repair cord internationally and custom build every patch to the requirements of the tyre
reinforcement
vulcanization
Vulcanization is the process of curing the added rubber compound and reinforcing patch. A combination of heat and pressure is applied to achieve a correct bond
This is the final stage of repair and is the process involving restoring the original profile of the tyre. This is acheived by fine grit high speed buffing. The tyre is now ready to be placed back in service
