In 1983 Grant McLennan left his position as National Manager for a company who were the sole distributor of Rema Tip Top products in Australia. With his extensive knowledge in repair products & practices he opened a tyre repair facility in Mackay, Tip Top Vulcanizers
Our first mining customer was Mount Isa Mines with the largest earthmoving tyre at that time being a 27.00R49
Tip Top Vulcanizers soon established themselves as the premier repairer in the region servicing the Bowen Basing mining community. As word of mouth travelled, we attracted new customers from the most isolated parts of QLD / NT to providing urgent tyre repairs to Tarong Power

Giant Tyre Vulcanizers to reflect the growing trend in OTR tyres - they were getting much bigger!
With Ultra Class tyres came new challenges for a tyre repairer. We invested a significant amount of resources into developing and refining our repair process
Our repair process is unique to Giant Tyre Vulcanizers, with most repair equipment being designed / engineered by our team. Our reputation for safe, durable and cost effective tyre repairs is unmatched
In 2008, Grant McLennan was awarded a Certificate or Appreciation for his valued contribution in developing AS 4457.2-2008 : OTR Wheels,Rims and Tyres - Repair and Maintenance
